Grief & Loss Counselling
Counselling is a way of exploring your innermost thoughts and feelings in a safe, supportive, non-judgemental and confidential environment with a trained professional.
Often, clients have encountered distressing or stressful experiences or situations which they'd like to talk about in a safe setting. We all get ‘stuck’ occasionally: and we all feel and experience tension and stress at various times.
Personal Counselling is very beneficial and helpful for us when we feel stuck, troubled, tense, frightened, stressed, or unsure of ourselves. People find counselling to be a very liberated and empowered experience.
Counselling can help you gain greater self-awareness and power. That is why a Counsellor will provide you with an opportunity to work towards a more satisfying and happier life.
GRIEF COUNSELLING
Grief has been compared to physical illness. In the Old Testament, the prophet Isaiah adminishes to 'bind up the brokehearted,' giving the impression that sever grief can somehow do damage to the heart.
Grief counseling is a specialized form of therapy to assist survivors in coping with their grief.
Many people do not receive the support they need to overcome the pain of mourning. They feel they are trapped in grief - feelings which later surface as the underlying cause of physical and mental problems. Grief counseling becomes necessary when a person is so disabled by their grief, overwhelmed by loss to the extent that their normal coping processes are disabled or shut down. Grief counseling facilitates expression of emotion and thought about the loss, including sadness, anxiety, anger, loneliness, guilt, relief, isolation, confusion, or numbness.
It includes thinking creatively about the challenges that follow loss and coping with concurrent changes in their lives. Often people feel disorganized, tired, have trouble concentrating, sleep poorly and have vivid dreams, and experience change in appetite. These too are addressed in counseling.
The process of moving through the stages of grief is a difficult one, but sometimes you may discover that you need some assistance coping with grief.
Unlike traditional counseling, the behavior associated with grief does not need to be stopped or suppressed. Instead, a grief counselor is more like a guide who leads the survivor through the stages of death by assisting him in exploring his feelings and detaching himself from the negative aspects of the loss while encouraging him to build a healthy positive association with the lost loved one.
A common area where grief therapy has been extensively applied is with the parents and loved ones of cancer patients.

TESTIMONIAL:
Joshua Maree has been a spiritual adviser to me and my late mother, Dalene Muller, who was diagnosed with cancer in 2007, and passed away in December that year due to her illness. He has given me and her tremendous support during that period and also used his healing and spiritual tactics to make my mother’s journey more bearable. I will always cherish his gentle soul, pure intent, as well as his healing gifts. I can recommend him to anyone who needs his capabilities – especially if he can utilise it to help those who suffer from cancer.
